Obituary for Gayle Pearce

Gayle Pearce, age 76, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 2nd, at Warroad Senior Living in Warroad, MN. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at

Gayle Orene Hanson was born on April 3, 1941 at rural McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Clifford and Mabel Klemmetson Hanson. She grew up north of McIntosh, attended rural school and graduated from McIntosh High School. She attended and graduated nursing school in Crookston and then worked as a registered nurse at St. Michael’s Hospital in Grand Forks.

Gayle was married to John Pearce in 1962. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and two wonderful sons, Marc and Michael. John and Gayle raised their family in Grand Forks and in 1972 they moved to the Hanson farm near McIntosh where they lived until 1989 when they moved to their dream home on Lake Sarah. John passed away on September 22, 2016. Currently she was living at Warroad Senior Living in Warroad, Minnesota to be near her family.

Gayle’s loved gardening and was a Master Gardener. She also enjoyed quilting and cooking and dedicated her life to healthcare. She was a builder of people’s abilities. A positive and polite spirit, she always looked for the best in everyone. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Marc (Amy) Pearce of Fulshear, TX, and Michael Pearce of Warroad, MN; five grandchildren, Joshua (Rachael) Pearce, Jessica (Alex) Hawrelok, Benjamin (Taylar) Pearce, Logan Pearce, and Samantha Pearce; three great grandchildren, Julian Pearce, Emmrick Pearce, and Brynn Hawrelok; three sisters, Carol (Don) Fox of Erskine, MN, Lynn (Hugh) MacKinnon of Oak Harbor, WA, and Crystal Hanson of San Diego, CA; as well as nieces and nephews, family friends whom she held dear to her heart, Melanie Pearce, and AFS students, Takesh Yamada and Nokie Kobashis of Japan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and her infant brother, Gary.
