Such a wonderful life…

My life began January 12, 1955, the 2nd child to Everett & Joyce Myhrum, to what I truly believe was the most wonderful of all childhoods. My Daddy was a good provider and loved our Mama and us kids. Our Mama was a nurturing and loving mother. Her name fit her well because she had so much JOY. Mom knew just how to perfectly time her fresh baked bread, caramel rolls, fresh cake or cookies to come out of the oven just as we arrived home from school. I still can remember the wonderful smell of freshly baked goods awaiting us and any of our friends. We lived a block and a half from our church and that was a big part of our upbringing. On Christmas Eve we would put on a new sweater or outfit and walk in the crisp winter night to candlelight services. I was blessed with an older brother, Greg, who has always been and inspiration to me, and my two younger sisters, Kim and Judy, who are the precious stones in my life, always encouraging me and providing a joy that only sisters/best buddies can do.

When I was 16 years old I met the love of my life, Marc. He soon became a part of the life at the Myhrum house. He would pick me up from school and drive me home and often be invited to have supper with us. After high school we each went off to pursue our education but stayed connected, dating for 4 years, and married on July 19, 1975. Our fist born, beautiful Christine Ann, was born on August 14, 1980, then two sweet boys, Erik Everett, born December 28, 1981 and Jacob Emil, born June 3, 1984, our life was now complete with our little family. We enjoyed many fun vacations and camping/boating trips together, saw many national parks and had fun traveling. Each stage of life with our children was fun and stimulating. They completed us.

Marc pursued a photography business which he later moved into our home once we purchased a larger home. This was a blessing because he was also at home to be a big part of our children’s lives. I took a job with Bemidji Clinic on March 17, 1975, as a medical transcriptionist, which later became MeritCare Clinic in Bemidji. I worked as a transcriptionist until July of 2004 when I began working in Administration, first at the clinic and in 2014 at the hospital in Bemidji, now Sanford health. I loved my job working for this team of great supportive leaders and had great co-workers and valued this part of my life.

As the kids left home, Marc and I continued traveling, sometimes for relaxation to fun/adventurous places like Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica but we have both agreed the times we traveled to do mission trips was even more fulfilling. We (along with each of our children at some point) experience a half dozen or more mission trips to an orphanage in Chihuahua, Mexico, a trip to Guatemala with the Servant’s Heart ministry, 4 house builds with Casas por Cristo in Mexico building home for the homeless and medical mission trip to Haiti with our daughter. There were all life changing experiences and opened doors to special friendships.

We were soon to discover another very fulfilling chapter in our life as we began having grandchildren! This is what has really made the “world go round” for us. Our fist born was Jack Russell Maddy, now in the US Navy, then Hannah Jane Maddy, Samuel Ryan Maddy, Gianna Christine Maddy, Elisa Michelle Maddy. Soon after, Erik & Erin’s, Avery Ann Lindgren, was born. Next came Jake & Brianna’s, Gabriel Howard Lindgren and our latest grandchild (Erik & Erin’s) is Hazel Jane Lindgren. Another beautiful baby by Jake & Brianna is due August 2018. What a blessing to us! They each have unique personalities that make them so special.

As I look back on my life, I see so much to be grateful for and try to acknowledge the many blessings given to me by God; my wonderful parents, my amazing husband, three beautiful children and their spouses, eight wonderful grandchildren and my special siblings & their spouses. Add to this mix, many very special nieces and nephews, Marc’s family which became like my own and amazing friends and co-workers. I also am thankful for my peaceful log home that Marc and I built together. God has given us an amazing life and family, and because of the finished work on the cross we have been made righteous through Jesus and will enjoy the promise of eternity with our Lord.

I am grateful, thank you--!

Jane
