Lawrence John Torske was born on September 28, 1933 in King Township, rural McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Oscar and Gertrude Reichenbach Torske. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1951.

Lawrence entered the United States Army in December of 1955 and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. After he received his honorable discharge, he returned to the home farm. At that time, he farmed and worked part time for Erskine Manufacturing for a few years. Mostly, he collected and resold antiques at various flea markets. For several years, he spent the winter months in Quartzsite, Arizona with family and selling his wares.

He lived on the farm for nearly his entire life until he moved to The Country Place in Erskine where he lived for just three days before he passed away.

He was a life-long member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He loved animals and enjoyed bluegrass music, going to auction sales and parades (especially tractor parades). Mostly he will be remembered as a soft spoken, a loving and giving person and a good friend. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his nephew, Lowell G. Torske and great nephew, Shaun Torske, both of McKinney, TX; one great great niece, Allyson Torske; cousins, Joel (Connie) Strom of McIntosh, Joyce Burns of Trail, MN, Russell Reichenbach of Fosston, Mary Schmidt of Crookston, and several other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen Torske; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Honorary Pallbearers: Melford Grundyson, Ray Berg, Ben Ramse, and Gerald Borud.
