Marian Overmoe, age 97, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 23rd, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30th, at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Hollis Graves officiating. Marian Lee was born to parents John P. and Sena (Morken) Lee on September 27, 1920 at the family farm in rural Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was the ninth of ten children in the family. She attended country school and later finished high school in Detroit Lakes, graduating in 1938. After graduation, Marian joined her sister and several friends on a working adventure in Springfield, MO and later in Seattle, WA. During WWII, Marian was employed with a company producing military uniforms. She was proud to contribute to the war effort.

On April 10, 1948, Marian was united in marriage to James Overmoe in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They made their home in rural Hillsboro where they raised their family and continued farming until their retirement. Marian was a woman whose life was personified in the pride she took in making a beautiful and welcoming home for her family and friends. Both she and James exemplified true hospitality. She was artistic and she expressed that talent by being an accomplished seamstress, gardener and cook. Her Christmas entertaining was a highlight of each year.

Marian committed her life to her Lord as a young girl. She served Him faithfully all of her life and her legacy of faith was passed on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in her church, serving in women’s ministry and attending Bible studies. Marian and James had a heart for missions; which was evidenced by their support for many missionaries. This included establishing a scholarship for training native pastors in Africa to reach people who have never heard the love of Jesus.

In 2005, Marian and James moved to Fosston, Minnesota. In 2008, James passed away and Marian continued to reside in Fosston until her passing.

She is survived by children, Judy (Sheldon) Matson of Fosston and Linda (Phillip) Ward of Wasilla, AK; and Robert (Becky) Overmoe of Fosston. She is also survived by grandchildren Barbara (Ryan) Johnson, Brent (Emily) Matson, Phillip (Amy) Ward, and Lindsey (Thomas) Smith. Her great-grandchildren include, Ryler, Regan, Emalia, Isabella, Lucas, Elena, Andreas, Mekennah, Elijah, Bob, Jaxson and Kyllo. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Alice Overmoe, Ida Mae Overmoe, Denise Overmoen and Joanne Lee.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and nine siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Blessed be her memory
