Don Reierson

May 4, 1926 — February 5, 2019

Don Reierson, age 92, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 5th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9th, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, February 8th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Naval Honors Team. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. Donald Reierson was born on May 4, 1926 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Richard & Ella (Thronson) Reierson. He was the 5th of 7 children. After graduating from Fosston High School, Don joined the United States Navy at 17 years old and was deployed on the USS Navarro as a gunner during WWII in the South Pacific. His ship was in Tokyo Bay when the treaty was signed by McArthur to end the war with Japan. After returning to the U.S. Don attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis for 2 years. It was during this time he met Marjorie Stewart who would later become his wife. He moved back to Fosston to run a gas station with his brother Clayton. He was married to Marjorie on October 28, 1950. They had 3 children. He drove bus for the Fosston High School for several years. He was employed by Midwest Breeders as a sales representative and was promoted to District Manager. Don and his brother Clayton started grain farming in the early 70's - Reierson Farms. After Clayt's passing, his son Jack became Don's partner for several years until Don retired. He served several years on the Fosston School Board while his kids were in school and also was a prominent member of the Fosston Bank Board and the board and President of Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. He enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing and golf in his later years. After retiring, Don & Marge enjoyed travelling to many beautiful locations with family & friends. Don is survived by his son, Scott Reierson, wife Judee Reierson of Fosston, MN, daughter Jo (Reierson) Ryther of Hopkins, MN. Grand Daughter, Brittney (Reierson) Bakke, husband Eivind Bakke, Great Grandsons Seth, Jadin & Cody Bakke of Fosston, MN, Angie Scarbrough of Colorado Springs, CO, Great Grand Sons Brandon Paterson & Parker Scarbrough, Great Grand Daughter Isabelle Scarbrough of Colorado Springs, CO. Grand Daughter, Stephanie Connolly of Dickinson, North Dakota, Great Grandsons Lane, Michael & Grayson Connolly in Dickinson, North Dakota. Great Great Grandson Cree Connolly of Dickinson, North Dakota, his sister Betty (Reierson) LePier of Fosston, MN, sister-in-law, Nan (Stewart) Anderson of Argyle, MN, and brother-in-law, Bob Beaudry of Argyle, MN, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Reierson, son Tom Reierson, his parents Richard & Ella Reierson, Grandson Chad Borscheid, brothers, Stan, Bud, Clayton, Keith & David Reierson, brother-in-law, Howard LePier, sisters-in-law, Ida Reierson, Vi Reierson, and Carmen Reierson, brothers-in-law, Burke Stewart and Chuck Stewart, and sister-in-law, Lucille (Stewart) Beaudry.
