Adolph Retzer, age 93, of Fosston, MN passed away on Tuesday, December 30th at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5th at 1:00 PM at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and interment will be at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Adolph Retzer was born November 9, 1915 in Macintosh County near Ashley, N.D. to Ludwig and Katherina (Wolf) Retzer. He was raised on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed in a country church near Ashley. Adolph served in the CCCs from 1934 to1939 and served in the U.S. Army from November 1939 to October 1943. He married Martha Bertsch on December 13, 1942. They farmed at Eureka, S.D. and East of Ashley, N.D. from 1944 to 1951. Then they moved to Minnesota and purchased a farm East of Bejou, MN which they farmed until 1956. In 1956 Adolph and Martha purchased the Green Lantern Cafe in Fosston, MN and ran it for one year. Adolph joined the Fosston Police Force in February 1957 and continued working in law enforcement until his retirement in December 1980. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.On Tuesday, December 30, 2008 Adolph Retzer passed away at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 93 years.He is survived by four children, Duane (Arlene) Retzer of Fridley, MN, Kenneth (Barbara) Retzer of Belle Plaine, MN, Geraldine (Larry) Boerner of Centerville, MN and Susan McGrath of Ely, MN; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; one brother, Reinhold Retzer of Ashley, ND and one sister, Hulda Opp of Eureka, SD.He was preceded in death by his wife Martha; sisters, Tillie Maier, Katherine Gustafson, Lydia Spitzer, Rose Schauer, Pauline Bieber and brother Fred Retzer.
