Alan Erickson, age 66, of rural Erskine, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 1st, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5th, at Gosen Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Alan Wayne Erickson was born on June 14, 1952 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to parents Arthur and Josephine (Shelley) Erickson. He grew up and attended school in Plummer, Minnesota, graduating from Pershing High School in 1970. After high school, he farmed with his father and also worked with other farmers in the Erskine-Winger area.Alan was united in marriage to Judy Jorgenson on April 9, 1972 at Gosen Lutheran Church, rural Erskine. After their marriage, they raised their family and farmed on the home farm. Alan also was the manager of the creamery in Erskine until its closing in 1984. He then owned and operated Alan's Dairy until the early 1990's when he went to work at the Polk County Incinerator in Fosston. He was employed there for 22 years as a boiler operator until his retirement.He was a member of Gosen Lutheran Church where he was the treasurer. He liked hunting, fishing, and reading. Alan loved to talk and was known to have a good sense of humor. Storytelling was a passion for Alan and his family was always entertained by his tales.Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judy, of rural Erskine; four children, Jody (Jon) Dagel of Grand Forks, ND, Lance (Julie) of McIntosh, MN, Matthew of Hastings, MN, and Alexander (Rachel) of Gonvick, MN; 12 grandchildren, Jens, Thomas, Jonathan, Tessa, Devin, Bailey, Taylor, Garret, Johan, Reuben, Terrance, and Jasmine; four great grandchildren, Adley, Cory, Bella, and Zaidan.Also surviving are six siblings, Jill Hall of Newfolden, MN, Jane (Carl) Smith of Fargo, ND, Arthur (Betty) Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN, his twin sister, Annette (Dale) Johnson of Newfolden, MN, Cecily Erickson of Plummer, MN (special friend, Milo Oppegaard of Erskine, MN), and Josie (Randy) Myhre of Red Lake Falls, MN as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd; sister, Phyllis; nephew, Kyle Myhre; daughter-in-law, Hanidah Erickson; brother-in-law, Harold Hall; and father and mother-in-law, Donald and Gladys Jorgenson.
