Allen Carver, age 85, of McIntosh, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5th, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rachel Roggenbuck, LLM officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Air Force Honors Team. Allen Curtis Carver was born on April 7, 1940, in Fosston, Minnesota to Orison and Irene (Mintz) Carver. He graduated from Fosston High School in 1958. He then enlisted into the Air Force and served for almost 4 years. He married Joanne Hagen on October 26, 1963. Together they had 2 children-Craig Allen and Kimberly Jo.
Allen and Joanne were married for 19 years. After the untimely passing of Joanne, Allen married Shirley Brovold on December 22, 1983.
Allen had many different jobs including working on a mink farm, owning Northern Marine, farmed and hauled cattle and hay with his brother for area farmers to local sales barns for 40 years. He continued to haul hay until May 2025.
Allen loved riding horses, rodeos, shaking dice with the boys at Cenex, going to the casino and being with family and friends. He could always light up a room with his presence. He will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, and humor.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Shirley Carver, son, Craig (Wendy) Carver, daughter, Kim (Duane) Anderson; stepsons, Kent (Tina) Brovold, Steve (Denise) Brovold and daughter-in-law, Lucia (Mike) Rood; grandchildren, Victoria Carver, Aj Anderson, Ashley (Adam) Kirchoff, Trevor (Raelene) Brovold, Taylor (Bryce) Penner, Jacob Brovold, Lena Campbell; great grandchildren Brantley, Brody, Isla, Brooks and Dani; one sister, Donna (Richard) Larson; sister-in-law, Gloria Carver; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne; mother, Irene; father, Orison; brother, Dwayne; stepson, Keith Brovold; and grandson, Cole Brovold.
