Beverlee Ostenaa, age 91, formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29th at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Peter Lurvey officiating. Interment will be in Poplar River Cemetery, Fosston. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born March 10, 1934 to parents Alvin and Tina (Lucken) Wiberg in Fosston, MN. She was raised from infancy by an Aunt and Uncle Monrad and Mabel (Wiberg) Stenvold, near Trail, MN.
She received her education in the elementary grades at Trail and Oklee and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1951. She earned her degree from Bemidji State University, attended college in Milwaukee, WI and went on to a long teaching career in MacIntosh, Bemidji, Milwaukee, and Bagley.
Beverlee married Orlis Hanson in 1955 and to this union a son, Jeffrey, was born in 1958 in Milwaukee. They divorced in 1975. On September 30, 1978 she married Torrence (Torry) Ostenaa and moved to Fosston. They were members of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. Torry passed away in 2006. Beverlee moved to Woodbury in 2016 to be near her grandson and family.
Beverlee was on the WELCA board for many years and loved working with the quilting group. She was a member of the Fosston Athenian Study Club for over 20 years, and a member of the Pine to Prairie Machine Knitters Club. She was a past member of the Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teaching society for women educators and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.Beverlee was an avid reader, and enjoyed sewing quilting, knitting, playing her piano, and feeding the birds.
She is survived by one grandson, Adam Hanson and his wife Kelly, four great grandchildren Grace, Luke, Jack, and Sam, and special extended family Billy Joe and Robin Brown, all of Woodbury; brother Glen (Helen) Wiberg of Askov; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, siblings Terry Woodford, Dennis, Darwin and Charles Wiberg, Verna Ostrander, Gloria Newsome, Genevieve Wiberg, and Marcy Hallan, and foster siblings Tal Stenvold, Marlys Lien, Alvin Stenvold, husband Torry, and son Jeffrey.
