Beverly Ann Torblaa was born in Crookston, MN on October 1, 1928 to parents Lloyd Elliot Torblaa and Ann Mary (Pavek) Torblaa. She was the first of two daughters born to the Torblaas. Her younger sister is Dorothy (Torblaa) Hanson. Beverly attended a one-room Country Schoolhouse prior to attending and graduating from Fosston High in 1947. Beverly lived and worked on the Torblaa family farm until, at the age of 19, she married Lawrence Calmer Forsberg (a WWII Navy Veteran). Lawrence's family owned a farm near Trail, MN. They were married in Minneapolis on May 15, 1948. The young couple were one of many looking for jobs and apartments in the "big city" after WWII and settled into a two-room apartment to start their family. Their first son (David Lloyd) was born in February of 1950 followed by a second son (Steven Larry) in December of 1951. They then moved to another two-room apartment near downtown Minneapolis where they added two more sons, (Jeffrey Lee) in March of 1954 and (LaMonte Jay) in 1962. In the late 1950's the family moved into the "more spacious" three-room apartment on the first floor. At this time, Beverly and Larry also housed and took care of a nephew (Roger) and a niece (Cynthia). Beverly always thought of herself as common. She was far above common - Everyone should be so lucky to have such a "common" Mother. Through every trial she made her children feel Loved. The children were always fed. Their clothes were clean (though the boys came in covered in dirt every day). She nursed all of the children through numerous illnesses (Mumps, Measles, Chicken Pox). She dressed the children in their best for church each Sunday. And she allowed the children to make mistakes so they could learn from them. She always put the family ahead of herself - her prayers were always for the children. When the children were all in school, Beverly went to work as a waitress to help pay for the purchase of the Forsberg Family Farm. Later she went to work at Augustana Home as a Nursing Assistant and stayed there for 20 years. She was very much appreciated and loved there also. A Wonderful Mother and an even more Loving Grandmother/Nana. From her first grandchild to her last great-grandchild, each child had a special relationship with her. They knew she loved them, and because of her they knew they were Special. When Larry retired from his job at the Twin Cities Transit Company, Beverly and Larry moved back to Fosston and bought a home just outside the town limits of Fosston. On Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Beverly passed away at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston, MN at the age of 85 years. She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence Forsberg. She is survived by sister Dorothy (Torblaa) Hanson; sons David, Steven (Kathryne), Jeffrey (Jill) and LaMonte (Mary); six grandchildren Sara, John, Katie, Kristina, Stacy and Jared; and nine great grandchildren Marina, Lena, Isabelle, Natalie, Hunter, Forrest, Brooke, Alexander and Olivia.
