Beverly Roue, age 83, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 18th, surrounded by her family, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25th, at New Journey Church in Fosston with Pastor Mark Erickson officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Was born on January 22, 1943, to Kenneth and June Larson in Fosston, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm in Heier Township. She often shared stories about her early years on the farm and how simply and primitively they lived.

She began her education in a country school before transferring to Fosston School in the fifth grade, where she met her future husband while swinging during recess. As the story goes, he found a coin in the sand, brushed it off, handed it to her, and told her he was going to marry her someday.

Beverly graduated from Fosston High School in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart, James Wallace Roue, on July 18, 1962, at First English Lutheran Church in Fosston, Minnesota.

While raising their family, they moved numerous times as Jim worked in the mines on the Iron Range. In 1981, they purchased The Wildlife Museum in Bagley, Minnesota. Beverly enjoyed running the museum and meeting the many visitors who shared her family's love of the outdoors.

After their children were grown, Beverly and Jim purchased a hobby farm south of Fosston, near her childhood home. She loved working in her yard and tending her many flower beds, feeding the deer, and watching the Hallmark Channel. Over the years, Beverly held a variety of jobs, including positions at Control Data in Bemidji and Fosston Hospital before ending her career cleaning private homes.

Beverly was a wonderful baker and always had bars or cookies ready to enjoy with a cup of coffee whenever someone stopped by. She was very artistic and enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and later, her great-grandchildren.

She loved traveling to visit Jimmy out East and enjoyed trips with both Terri's and Carrie's families. One of the highlights of her life was finally getting to visit Hawaii with Carrie's family.

After Jim's passing, Beverly moved into town, where she continued spending countless hours caring for her yard and flower beds. She was especially proud when her yard was recognized as "Yard of the Week."

Later in life, Beverly moved to Prairie Pines Assisted Living in Fosston, where she enjoyed meeting new people, watching movies in the lobby, riding the golf cart around town, participating in activities, especially Bingo. She had quite a sweet tooth and was always happy to share her treats with others. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, and always had a puzzle in progress.

She moved to Essentia Health Living Center on July 13, 2026. Surrounded by her family, Beverly passed away peacefully at Essentia Health Fosston Hospital on July 18, 2026, the 64th anniversary of her marriage to Jim.

She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Ann Goodwin of Tenstrike, Minnesota; grandsons Kyle Goodwin and daughters Addison, Aizlynn, Aliyah, and Ava, all of Tenstrike; Cameron (Brittany) Goodwin of Kelliher, Minnesota; and Alex Goodwin and his daughter, Leighton, of Tenstrike.

She is also survived by her daughter, Terri Leona (Gerald) Nelson of Clearbrook, Minnesota; grandson Seth (Kylie) Sistad and their sons, Maxwell and Owen, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; and grandsons Cody Nelson and Thomas Nelson of Fargo, North Dakota.

She is also survived by her son, Jimmy (Shelley) Roue of Everett, Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by her brother, David (Helen) Larson of Fosston, Minnesota; her sister, Evelyn Cigelski of Lake Park, Minnesota; and her brother, Ron (Betty) Larson of Fosston, Minnesota.

She is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert (Jean) Roue of Hastings, Pennsylvania, Richard (Darlene) Roue of Fosston, Minnesota, and Thomas (Cindy) Roue of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; sisters-in-law Nancy (Robert) LaPine of Davis, Illinois, Judy (Jerry) Schue of Oklee, Minnesota, Twila Roue of Fosston, Minnesota, Mary Roue of Crookston, Minnesota, Michiko Bowman of Branson, Missouri, and Donna Roue of Titusville, Florida; her aunt Doris Holm of Bemidji, Minnesota; her aunt Gloria Larson of Fosston, Minnesota; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Roue; her parents, Kenneth and June Larson; her parents-in-law, Clifford and Eunice Roue; her son-in-law, Randy Goodwin; her brothers-in-law, William Roue, John Roue, Curt Cigelski, and her great-nephew, Michael Mandt.

The little boy who found a coin in the playground kept his promise. Sixty-four years after they were married, Beverly was reunited with her lifelong sweetheart.
