Bonnie Doll, age 71, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (April 29th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (May 3rd) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger, MN with the Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Winger. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Bonnie Jean Ryan was born on June 12, 1942 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Norris and Flayvia Linde Ryan. She grew up near Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1960. Following high school she worked at the Fosston potato plant for a number of years. Bonnie was united in marriage to Jerome Doll on September 22, 1962 at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. After their marriage, they lived in Fosston and then Fertile, Minnesota. Bonnie managed the motel in Fertile until 1973 when they moved to a farm near Winger, Minnesota. It was also in 1973 that Bonnie began her employment with the City of Fosston. She worked for the City of Fosston for 20 years, from 1973 until 1993. Then, from 1993 until 1996, she worked for Danny Anderson at The Stadium in Fosston as a manager/bookkeeper. They moved to Fosston from Winger in 1996. In 1996, she started at the Fosston High School as a paraprofessional and later as a grandma at the Magelssen Elementary School in Fosston until her retirement in 2011. Also in 2011, Bonnie and Jerome sold their home in Fosston and moved to Thief River Falls to be closer to family. During that year, Bonnie began a life battle as she was diagnosed with dementia. Jerome lovingly cared for her at home until she entered the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine on May 13, 2013. She was a life-long member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger. She enjoyed crafts, baking, gardening, reading, and loved working with kids at the school. Most of all, Bonnie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Jerome of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Rachel (Scott) Bak of Thief River Falls, and Heidi (Scott) Swenson of Lancaster, MN; grandchildren, Dustin (Andrea) and Abby of Thief River Falls, and Garet, Gabby, and Izzy of Lancaster; five siblings, Dennis Ryan of St. Cloud, MN, Kathryn Peterson of Thief River Falls, Ramona (LeRoy) Jonas of Avon, MN, Roxanne (Buddy) Layne of St. Cloud, MN, and Neal (Cindy) Ryan of Avon, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Myrna Folstrom; and two brothers, Curtis and Steven.
