Charlotte Lindfors Steinbrenner, age 90, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday (August 9th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (August 13th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday (August 12th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and family condolences may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Charlotte Eileen Tangen was born on August 14, 1916 in Queen Township, Polk County, Minnesota to parents Henry and Alma (Haugen) Tangen. She grew up and attended rural school in Queen Township and then Fosston High School. Following high school, Charlotte worked as a housekeeper and as a waitress at the Fosston hotel. She was united in marriage to Carl Lindfors on December 14, 1940. After their marriage, they lived in Fosston and began Lindfors Insurance Agency. Carl passed away on June 3, 1956. After Carl's passing, Charlotte operated the insurance agency until 1963 when her son, Vern, joined her. She was married to Frank Steinbrenner on May 25, 1968. After her marriage, she continued to operate the agency with Vern until her retirement. Frank passed away on November 19, 2005. She has been a resident of the Prairie Pines Community in Fosston since 2004.She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston where she had been active as a Sunday school teacher and in ladies aide. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Polk County Welfare Board, and Boy Scouts (past Den Mother) and also Girl Scouts. Charlotte will be missed for her humor. She also had a wonderful memory and was a great historian of her family and local history and she loved to tell stories about them. She was always happiest when family and friends would stop by and visit. Her door was always open. She was also ready to lend a helping hand when needed in her church, in the community or within her own family. She loved to read, travel, discuss politics and kept up on all of the events of the day.Charlotte passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 25 days.Survivors include her son, Vernon Lindfors and his wife, Irene of Fosston; daughter, Dorothy Christen and her husband, Harold of Duluth, MN; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Gregory Lindfors of Denver, CO, Thomas Lindfors and his wife, Terri and their children, Kendra and Cole of Champlin, MN, Cindy Golembuski and her husband, Steven and their children, Ethan and Cate of Morrisville, PA, Kara Gillund and her husband, Jay and their children, Colin and Quentin of Marion, IA, Tracey Johnson and her husband, Marc and their children, Brenden and Jacob of Mora, MN, Nicholas Christen and his wife, Andrea of Billings, MT, and Nathanael Christen of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Francis Tangen and his wife, Ruth of Starbuck, MN; and one sister, Josephine Hedmen of Mahnomen, MN; one sister-in-law, Marian Tangen of Chula Vista, CA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl and Frank; her parents; brothers, Arnold Tangen and Orvin Tangen; and sisters, Laila Chadwick, Hilda Breece, and Florence Storrusten. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
