Clara Rud

Clara Rud, age 96, of Fosston, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, November 11th at Midway Care Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby, Minnesota with Rev. Shawn Stafford officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and interment will be at Froen Cemetery, rural Fosston. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements.Clara Josephine Sjol was born September 11, 1910, the daughter of  Peter and Christina (Sunby) Sjol on their farm in Brandsvold Township, near Fosston, Minnesota.  She was baptized and confirmed at Froen Lutheran Church in rural Fosston.  She attended Cloverdale School and later worked in Fosston for the P.M. Mark family.She and Peter Rud were married February 2, 1932.  They made their home on the Rud homestead in Queen Township until 1938 when they moved to the Sjol farm.  They lived there until retirement and then moved to Fosston.  Clara lived at the Midway Care Center in Fosston at the time of her death, where she had previously worked for many years.On Saturday, November 11, 2006 Clara passed away at Midway Care Center at the age of 96 years.Clara is survived by her sons, Robert (Sally) of Rockledge FL, and Richard (Lonnie) of Inver Grove Heights, MN.  Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Pat Fruen, Pete Rud, Eric Rud, Shannon Rodgers and Jonathan Rud; as well as 11 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her parents; sisters, Sena Rud, Anna Rud, Lillie Block and Tillie Tverberg; and brothers, Olaf, Ingevald, Edwin and Gilbert.
