Corrine Kay Fischer was born on August 18, 1944, in Little Falls, Minnesota to parents Clifford and Alice (Bloomgren) Fischer. She grew up in Randall, Minnesota and was confirmed at the Randall Presbyterian Church. She attended Little Falls High School through her Junior year and then graduated from McIntosh High School in 1962.
Corky was united in marriage to Karsten Syverson on June 13, 1964, at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, Minnesota. After their marriage, they live in Gully for a few years before settling in McIntosh. It was here that Corky and Karsten worked and raised their two children, Clay and Karen. Karsten passed away in April of 2012.
Corky worked at Brovold’s Grocery, owned a beauty shop in her home known as Corky’s Beauty Shop, the McIntosh Bakery and then at Garden Valley for over 25 years until her retirement.
Corky was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She liked to go to the Casino with friends, Lois Schimanski and Pam Wang, as well as her sisters and one niece. She also enjoyed a good visit over a cup of coffee with neighbors. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her two children, Clay (Teresa) Syverson of McIntosh, and Karen (Jason) Wenge of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Megan (Nicolai) Sveen, Carmen Syverson (fiancé, Shane), Luke (Amber) Syverson, Preston Wenge, and Makien Wenge; great grandchildren, Evalynn, Everett, Emil and Cliff; three sisters, Conne Syverson, Mary Olson and Jan Brenteson; two brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Fischer and Rick (Barb) Fischer; brother-in-law, LeRoy Johnson; and sister-in-law, Wanda Fischer. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karsten; her parents; siblings, Nancy Johnson and Kevin Fischer; brothers-in-law, Arnold Syverson and Bob Olson; and special friend, Lois Schimanski.
