Daniel Thompson, age 59, of Corpus Christi, TX, formerly of McIntosh, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30th, at his home. A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 14th, with the gathering beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the home of Cindy and Gordy Ostenaa, 37176 270th Ave. SE, McIntosh, MN 56556. Daniel Corey Thompson was born on September 11, 1964, in Golden Valley, Minnesota to parents Richard and Marilyn (Edwards) White. Shortly after Dan was born, Richard and Marilyn parted ways. In 1967, Marilyn married Lyle Thompson and the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska until 1973. The family returned to McIntosh where Dan attended the McIntosh-Winger School. He graduated high school in 1983 and went on to Bemidji State University to pursue a degree.
After college, Dan lived in Thief River Falls and the Nisswa/Brainerd area. He managed a retail store and also worked at the Log Shop making furniture. His journey then led him to Missouri and onto Illinois where he met Tamara Penwell. In 2013, Dan and Tamara moved to Crossville, Tennessee. Dan and Tamara were united in marriage in 2015 and to this marriage he gained three wonderful stepchildren – Thomas, Taylor and Tanner; and later came three grandchildren, Troy, Karson and Elias.
While in Tennessee, Dan worked at Tommy’s Motorsports and also had a photography business. Dan enjoyed vacationing in many warm locations, including Mexico, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. He had a love for firearms, shooting, and photography.
In July of 2023, Dan and Tamara bought their retirement home in Corpus Christi, Texas. In June of 2024, they made the move to Texas where they lived until his death. Dan was a loving husband, brother, stepfather, grandpa, uncle, friend, and cousin.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Richard White; his mother, Marilyn Thompson; stepfather, Lyle Thompson; stepsister, Anna Abrahamson; nephew, Justin Abrahamson; grandparents, Piney and Doris Edwards, Lloyd and Jessie Thompson, and Nancy and Henry White.
He is survived by his wife, Tamara; sisters, Chris White and Kelly (Rick) Phillips; brother, Patrick (Melissa) Thompson; stepchildren, Taylor, Thomas, and Tanner; grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
