Delores Syverson, age 94, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 13th. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17th, at Vernes Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh, MN, with the Rev. Will Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Vernes Lutheran Cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (October 17th) at the church. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.
Delores Bessie Fealy was the first born to the late Judd and Rose Fealy on September 22, 1931 in Mentor, Minnesota. She attended country school in Mentor and graduated from Erskine High School in 1949. Following graduation, she worked at Garden Valley Telephone Company in Erskine, Minnesota.
Delores was wed to the late Floyd Syverson in Erskine, Minnesota at Grace Lutheran Church on June 25, 1954. Her life was filled with the love and laughter of rearing her family over the years in Minnesota; Wolf Point, Montana and Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1985, Delores and Floyd moved to Fosston, Minnesota where she lived in the country until 2017 and then in Fosston proper until 2024. In 2024, she joined family in Omaha, Nebraska where she lived out her remaining years. She was an active member at each of the Churches where she lived and joined Floyd in service with the Gideons International in the Auxiliary Chapter. She shared her love of cooking, baking and sewing with her family. They continue to keep many of her holiday and other special food traditions alive with their own families.
She leaves behind three children Linda (Mark) Syverson-Guild, Paul (Lori) Syverson, and Lee Syverson. Grand-daughters Nichole (Kiel) Montgomery, Kelsey Syverson, Kate Guild, and Christa Guild. Great-grandchildren Karsten Montgomery and Tenley Montgomery. Brother-in-law Warren Ohren. She was preceded in death by her parents Judd and Rose, husband Floyd and siblings Duane Fealy, Jane Hole, Betty Shaller, and Elaine Ohren.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Gideons International, Vernes Cemetery Association, or another charity of your choice.
