Dennis Hammer

Dennis "Denny" Hammer, age 71 of McIntosh, MN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 19th while at work at the Hwy 2 rest area near Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at 11:00 AM at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston, MN with Pastor John Marx officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Wednesday morning. Interment will be in Fairdale Cemetery at Fairdale, ND at a later date, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Dennis K. Hammer was born on December 2, 1943 to Oscar and Laura (Roppel) Hammer of Fairdale, ND. Dennis attended school at Fairdale High School and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, getting his Bachelor of Science degree. Denny taught in Rudyard, MT and then moved to McIntosh where he met the love of his life. He was united in marriage to Carol Eisert on August 15, 1970 in Crookston, MN, and they started their family. Denny taught science for 33 years and enjoyed helping students learn about science. He also enjoyed tinkering around the farm, driving tractors, having coffee dates with his wife and playing with his five grandchildren. Most important to Denny was Jesus and his family's salvation.On Thursday, February 19, 2015 Denny passed away unexpectedly while at work at the Hwy 2 rest area near Erskine, MN, at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol, daughters Erin Hammer of Minnetonka, MN, Chris (Tim) Risinger of West Fargo, ND, and Holly (Dennis) Olson of Gully, MN, sisters Charlotte (Bob) O'Keefe of Fargo, ND, Connie (Gary) Ivesdal of Binford, ND, many nieces, nephews and cousins. His most prized possessions were his five grandchildren: Christian, Ellie, Annika, and Sofia Olson and Alexis Risinger. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Chereen, parents Oscar and Laura Hammer, his brother Steve Hammer and sister Sharon Hamre.
