Donald Thomas

Donald Thomas, age 84, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 18th, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Vernes Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, August 25th, at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. Family will also greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Donald LeRoy Thomas was born on April 14, 1932 in Trail, Minnesota to parents Bert and Della Christianson Thomas. He graduated from Fosston High School in 1950 and later from the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Donna Rystad on April 30, 1955 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. Don worked as a parts and service manager in Minneapolis for 30 years. They moved to South Twin Lakes east of Mahnomen and he managed Bagley Auto Parts until his retirement in 1995. They moved to Fosston in 2007 where they have resided since. He was active in Nee Gon Nee Lutheran Church at Roy Lake and was currently a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. He was a member of the Parts Managers Club and a very active member of the Night Riders Snowmobile Club of Naytahwaush. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Donna, of Fosston; daughter, Kathy Thomas of Minneapolis; son, Scott (Cindy) of Minneapolis; grandson, Dylan; sister, Opal Beltz of Minneapolis; and brother, Richard Thomas of Fosston. He was preceded in death by his parents.
