Dora Myhrum

Dora Myhrum, age 92 of Fosston, MN passed away on Thursday, January 30th at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4th at 2:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, February 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Froen Cemetery, rural Fosston, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements.Dora Emilia Carlson was born on October 26, 1921 at Lengby, Minnesota to parents David and Sigrid (Ringstad) Carlson. She was baptized in Lengby, attended country school near Lengby and also attended school in Lengby. In 1936, she moved with her family into Fosston, Minnesota where she finished her schooling. Dora went on to work candling eggs at the Egg Station in Fosston.She was married to Vernon Swanson on June 29, 1946 at the Hope Lutheran Church Parsonage in Fosston. They had two children together, Galen and Sharon. Dora worked at Fairway Foods, Francin's and at the Red Owl Grocery Store in Fosston.She was married to Arvil Myhrum on April 8, 1967 at Hope Lutheran Church. Dora was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, she loved gardening, canning in her earlier years, was a very good cookie maker, and loved being with her family and friends.On Thursday, January 30, 2014 Dora passed away at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston at the age of 92 years.She is survived by her grandson, Jeremy (Chanell) Kappedal of Fosston; two great grandchildren, Cayde and Courtney; three sisters, Norma Erickson of Fosston, Betty Juve of Crookston and Marion Gilge of Sacramento, CA; one brother, Allen D. Carlson of Minneapolis; son-in-law, Carl (Anita Swanson) Kappedal of Fosston; as well as nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Vernon Swanson and Arvil Myhrum; her daughter, Sharon Kappedal and her son, Galen Swanson.
