Doris Anderson, age 96, a resident of Cornerstone Assisted Living in Fosston, and formerly from Trail, MN, passed away on Sunday (January 4th) at her residence in Cornerstone. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (January 10th) at New Journey Church in Fosston with Pastor Mark Erickson officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (January 9th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Doris Marie (Olson) Anderson was born October 7, 1918 to Pedor & Hannah (Peterson) Olson at Hillsboro, ND. She moved to rural Fosston, MN in March, 1926 with her parents, brother and sister. She attended first grade in Cummings, ND and completed grade school at Pine Hill School in Columbia Township. She graduated from Fosston High School in 1936 with honors. Her parents farmed until 1932, when they moved in to Fosston.Doris married Leo James Anderson on July 18, 1941. They lived in Austin, MN until March, 1948, when they moved to their farm south of Trail, MN in Eden Township. Their first three children were born in Austin and the last five children in Fosston.Doris was a member of Fosston Baptist Church, a faithful attender, serving her Lord in Women's Ministries, teaching Vacation Bible School, attending Bible Studies, and quilting. She enjoyed bread baking, gardening and canning, making nutritious meals for her family and many guests through the years. Doris also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, and was always ready to play a board game. She was the bookkeeper for the family farm. She spent time each morning washing the milking machines and cleaning the milk house for the dairy. She was a charter member of the Eden Homemakers Club, attending meetings until the last two years.Doris moved from the farm in Eden Township at age 92, in September, 2010, after living there 62 years, to live at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Fosston where she passed away, under the care of hospice, on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the age of 96 years.Doris was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include eight children: Neal (Jolene) Anderson, Fosston, MN; Larry Anderson, Gully, MN; Janice (James) Paulson, Trail, MN; Alan Anderson, Nemo, SD; Peter (Beverly) Anderson, Gully, MN; Dale (Cheryl) Anderson, Ely, MN; David (Rebecca) Anderson, Gully, MN; and Marilyn (Robert) Benjamin, Tucson, AZ; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Irwin (Joan) Olson, Mesa, AZ, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedor & Hannah (Peterson) Olson; husband, Leo J. Anderson (September 9, 1981); daughter-in-law, Sandra Anderson; two granddaughters; sister, Frances (Olson) Becklund, and her husband, Wayne Becklund; and sister-in-law, Arlene "Ginger" Olson.Blessed be her memory.
