Elden Rudie, age 90, from Grand Forks, ND passed away on Saturday (June 8th) at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (June 17th) in the chapel at Valley Elder Care with the Rev. Nancy Jewell officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh, MN at a later date. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston, MN and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Elden Arnold Rudie was born on July 22, 1922 to parents Peder and Bertha (Leite) Rudie in McIntosh, Minnesota. He grew up near McIntosh and attended rural school.Elden was united in marriage to Esther Rindahl on October 17, 1948. Elden was a farmer, worked construction, and his last job was at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh as a maintenance man.They lived in McIntosh until 1999 when they moved to Oslo, Minnesota. In 2008, they moved to Grand Forks. Elden has been a resident of Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks since 2010.He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo, Minnesota. He enjoyed summer and winter fishing, picnics, woodworking, repairing and inventing things, driving around Maple Lake on a Sunday afternoon- topping the day off with an ice cream from the Dairy Queen, and being on the farm.He is survived by his wife Esther living at Valley Elder Care; two daughters, Belinda (Jim) Folz of Angus, MN and Angela (Clem) Brown of Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren, Chandra Brown of Washington, DC, Vanessa (Phil) Royer and their children, Olivia and Elyse of Clarksville, TN, and Cameo (Alex) Prillwitz and their daughter Ella of Vienna, VA.He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, DeVelle Brown; two sisters, Eleanor Benson and Bernice Swanby; and three brothers, Clearance, Lloyd and Norman.
