Evelyn E. Johnson, age 100, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (February 23rd) at First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 2nd) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully, MN with Dawn Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Evelyn Esther Christianson was born on June 21, 1912 in Woodside Township, rural Erskine, MN to parents Carl and Josephine (Strand) Christianson. She grew up in Woodside Township and was baptized and confirmed in Rodnes Lutheran Church and attended Maple Grove Country School, completing the eighth grade.Evelyn was united in marriage to Oscar A. Johnson on June 20, 1935 at Maple Bay, MN. They moved to the Herman Johnson Homestead in Eden Township where they raised three sons, Milo, Owen, and Darrell. In 1951 they moved to Kalispell, MT. In 1953 they purchased a farm from Nels and Nettie Emerson and moved back to Minnesota. They continued to live on this farm in Eden Township until Oscar passed away on March 8, 1972 as a result of severe rheumatoid arthritis.For over 30 years Evelyn lived by herself on the farm in the summer and in Fosston, MN during the winter. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She fed her family and the neighborhood with food for the stomach and the soul. She was afraid of storms, bears in the yard, and she once killed a skunk with a hoe. Evelyn enjoyed making doilies and afghans and were gifts she gave to family and friends all over the world. She was a faithful member of Lund Lutheran Church and Lund Ladies Aid of Gully, MN.In 2000 Darrell and Cindy purchased the farm from Evelyn where Cindy continues to live and maintain Evelyn's Legacy.On Saturday, February 23, 2013 Evelyn passed away at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 100 years, eight months and two days.She is survived by her sons, Milo of Gully and Owen (Mary Ann) of Lindstrom, MN; daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson of Gully; grandchildren, Rhonda (Lowell) Pfiffner, Lori (Greg) Gattis and Shannon Johnson; eight great grandchildren; and 19 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar; son, Darrell; grandchildren, Jon Johnson, David Johnson and Julie Callaway; brothers, William Christianson and Martin Christianson; and sisters, Jennie Moren, Hilda (Erickson) Skanson and Gladys Thompson.Blessed be her memory
