George Edward Doyle was born on April 8, 1929, to parents George John and Borghild (Anderson) Doyle in Larimore, North Dakota. He attended school in McCanna and Larimore. He went to work at an early age and joined the Army in 1945 where he served in Japan until his honorable discharge in 1947.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Marcella Wiberg. To this union they had seven children, Janet (Chuck) Stately, Marilyn (Gary) Behrens, Tom (Judy), Patricia (Tom) Garrett, Jack (Kristi), Mitch (Lois), and Kathy Doyle. They were married for 77 years.
Ed worked for many years at Greyhound Lines, and Buckingham Freight in Fargo until his health forced him to retire. He bought a small farm and, after retiring, worked on restoring/repairing volkswagons. He also did carpentry and made items for his family and friends. He spent many days fishing and playing horseshoes with his father-in-law Tenus Wiberg.
He really enjoyed spending time with family and loved talking about ‘old times’. Ed loved playing cards with pals, most of whom have passed on. For the past few years he has played a weekly game of cards with Father John. He loved learning new things about the world and had a special interest in history.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; six children and their spouses; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; 2 sisters; and one nephew; and daughter, Patricia.
