Geraldine Thoreson

Geraldine Thoreson, age 90 of Fosston, MN peacefully went to Heaven on Friday, October 31st while at Good Samaritan in Clearbrook, MN with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 AM at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Geraldine Avonelle Trogstad was born May 23, 1924 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Selma (Anderson) and Henry Trogstad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She grew up on a farm at Fosston, Minnesota and graduated from Fosston High School in 1942.In 1944 she married Irvin Thoreson, where they farmed north of Gully, MN. Together they raised two children, Sonja and Judy.In 1979 Geraldine moved to Fosston where she worked, enjoyed gardening, received "Beautification Award" for her well kept home and flower gardens. She was also a seamstress of perfection, and very creative in her workings. She was a woman of strong faith and an active member of the Lutheran Free Church, and sang in the community choir. The past two years she made her home at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Fosston.On Friday, October 31, 2014 Geraldine peacefully went to Heaven while at Good Samaritan in Clearbrook, Minnesota with her family by her side, at the age of 90 years.Geraldine is survived by her daughter Judy (Jerry) Haugen, granddaughters Stacy (Gary) Nordlund, and JeNelle Haugen, grandsons Jason Haugen, and Scott (Lisa) Brovold, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, sister-in-law Hazel Trogstad, nieces, nephews and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents Selma and Henry Trogstad, daughter Sonja Brovold, four brothers Newman, Herbert, LaVern, and Sidney Trogstad and one sister Violet (Melvin) Sundrud.Blessed be her memory, she is now "Safely Home."
