Germaine "Gerry" Berglund

Germaine Yvonne Berglund passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother of five, cherished grandmother of 16, and selfless friend to many, Germaine's life was a testament to love, kindness, generosity, and deep faith.

Born on May 7th, 1926, in Fargo, North Dakota, Germaine graduated from Bagley High School with the class of 1945. She embarked on a journey of love and companionship when she married the love of her life, Jennings Berglund. Together, they established their home in Minneapolis before settling in Fosston, Minnesota, where they raised their five children.

Gerry, as she was affectionately known, led a life filled with passion and purpose. Her days were spent nurturing her family and cultivating her many interests, including baking, gardening, sewing, and volunteering. She approached each day with boundless energy and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Gerry is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jennings Berglund, and her daughter, Linda Nyland. She is survived by her children Gary (Pat) Berglund, John Berglund, Sheri Berglund, and LouAnn Berglund; and son-in-law, Ole Nyland.

Her legacy lives on through her adoring grandchildren: Shanna (Nyland) Hein (Ben), Helmer (Sara) Nyland, Kristine Nyland, Jason Kelly (Liberty), Eric Berglund, Kelsey Berglund (Ariel), Nicole Shelton (Peter), Matthew Berglund, Yvonne Powers, Gracie Haaf and Jacob Haaf. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Amanda Nyland, Tristan Nyland, Declan and Jack Kelly, Kaylee, and Jace Bautista, and a grandchild expected in June.

In remembrance of Germaine's life, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16^th, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and honor her memory. Gerry will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and inspiration to all who knew her.
