Gloria Bauer, age 70, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday (November 9th) at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (November 13th) at St. Marys Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Manny Sundaram presiding. Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery Hansville, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (November 12th) and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at St. Marys Catholic Church. Gloria Jean Hanson Bauer was born on January 13, 1944 in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Sydney and Alta Simonson Hanson. She spent much of her childhood traveling throughout Minnesota attending various schools. She was baptized and confirmed at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, and graduated from Erskine High School in 1962. She was Secretary-Treasurer of her graduating class and was active in the choir, library club and Senior class play. After graduation, she attended business college in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. After completing her education, she was employed as secretary to the C.E.O. of Detroiter Mobile Homes in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. On July 6, 1963 she married David Bauer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor, Minnesota. Four children, Michael, Kathryn, Merry and Christopher were added to this union as they made their home in Erskine. Gloria worked as a cook along side her mother at the Erskine School from 1977-1987. For many years she worked as caregiver and was known as grandma to many area children. Her arms as well as her heart were always open. Gloria loved to bake, especially during the Holiday season. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress and wonderful cook. She liked to travel, and was very fond of the annual trips she and David would take to Yuma, Arizona. Gloria entered McIntosh Senior Living on August 18, 2014, battling illness until the time of her passing on November 9, 2014 at the age of 70 years. She is survived by her husband, David of Erskine; two children, Michael (Debbie) of Tomah, WI, and Merry (Justin) Spivey of Crookston, MN; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren, Zachary, Hayden, Kaitlin, Hailey, Christian, and Caralie; four step grandchildren, Jennifer, Randi, Levi, and Ronnie; four great grandchildren; her sister, Marvelyn (Darrel) Johnson of McIntosh, MN; and her brother, Rick (Tami) Hanson of Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Diane Pederson of Thief River Falls, MN; and brother-in-law, Joseph Bauer of Red Lake Falls, MN; and honorary grandson, Calvin Hill; Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Kathryn; son, Christopher; and her brother, Ron. Honorary Pallbearers: Glorias grandchildren and great grandchildren Active Pallbearers: Bob Hiltner, Steve Bradley, Pete LaCoursiere, Willis Ihrke, Curtis Swenson, and Rick Busch.
