Harvey A. Johnson, age 92 of Fosston and formerly from McIntosh, MN passed away on Thursday, January 16th at his home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Thursday, and interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements.Harvey Arthur Johnson was born to Arhtur O. and Inez Louise (Edwards) Johnson on April 25, 1921 at McIntosh, Minnesota. He lived near McIntosh and attended school in District 163, the MaCarthy School. They then moved to the Brekke place. Highway 2 was a gravel road at that time. Harvey watched them working to change the gravel to concrete when he was six or seven years old. Then they moved to the Ludeman farm and lived there until he finished grade school and moved northwest of McIntosh. He hauled potatoes to the Iron Range and Duluth and drove for MM&O out of Fosston, MN.In September of 1942 he entered the Army and went to Camp Crowder Missouri where he went to school to be a radio operator in the Signal Corps. He then left the United States and went to North Africa and served there for sometime before moving on to Italy with the 34th Infantry. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to McIntosh.Harvey was united in marriage to Lavine Swanson on June 29, 1946 and they farmed and milked dairy cattle for many years near McIntosh before moving to Fosston. Their son Wayne was born in 1949.On Thursday, January 16, 2014 Harvey passed away at his home in Fosston at the age of 92 years.He is survived by his wife Lavine of Fosston; and nieces and nephews, Marion Vanderhoof, Rita Laughter, Patricia Perez, Alan Johnson, Karen Johnson and June CahoonHe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Wayne in 1968; and brother, Ernest.
