Howard Mienert, age 92, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, April 15th at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 2:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour before the memorial service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Brandsvold Cemetery, rural Fosston at a later date, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Howard Clayton Mienert was born on August 31, 1920 to parents William and Clara (Lindfors) Mienert at Fosston, Minnesota.He grew up in Fosston where he owned and operated the Mobil Station in the 1940s.Howard was united in marriage to Adelyn Olson on June 25, 1950 at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church in Columbia Township, rural Fosston. They lived in Fosston until 1955, when they moved to Silver Bay, Minnesota where Howard worked at Reserve Mining Company. In 1960, they moved back to Fosston and he built his repair shop. Howard worked at his repair shop until he retired in 2006. He also owned a dozer and did ditching for the farmers and landscaped the hospital grounds when it was built, and he and his brother-in-law, Snooky drove semi together.He had a love for photography and took pictures and processed them in his dark room in his home.On Monday, April 15, 2013 Howard passed away at Essentia Hospital in Fosston at the age of 92 years.He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn and her husband Richard Venem of Fosston; three special grandchildren, Chris, Jimmy and Michelle all of Fosston; two sisters, Evelyn Eggen of Sun Lakes, Arizona and Eileen (Milo) Roux of Fosston; one brother, Leonard (Vernice) Mienert of Fosston; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adelyn on November 10, 2003; daughter, Carol Marie Mienert in 1970; one brother, LeRoy Mienert; and two sisters, Florence Joyce and Minnie Virant.
