Ida Grundyson

Ida Grundyson, age 95, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday (September 4th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday (September 8th) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger, MN with the Rev. Nathan Baker-Trinity officiating. Interment will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, rural Winger. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ida Marie Grundyson was born December 19, 1912 to parents Torger and Anne Neset in Sletten Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.Ida graduated High School in McIntosh in 1931 and then completed her Normal School teacher training. She taught at the Wardeberg and Lone Tree schools and is still fondly remembered by her students. Ida married Oswald Grundyson on November 18, 1936 and they farmed in Sletten Township.Ida was active in her church, had a servant's heart, and was a genuine example and display of the Christian "fruits of the Spirit" in Galatians 5 and the "Love" definition in 1 Corinthians 13. Ida had a wonderful sense of humor and she was surrounded by laughter all her days. She had the gift of seeing humor in the everyday happenings of life.Oswald died in 1987 and Ida left her farm home of nearly 60 years in 1999 and lived in McIntosh. She moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in 2004 where she was cared for, loved, and cherished by the wonderful PMCC staff.Ida passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 16 days.She is survived by her three children; Lavonne (Tim) Moon of Flemington, NJ; Karsten (Joey) Grundyson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and David (Janet) Grundyson of Park Rapids, MN; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 1 nephew.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oswald and brothers Ted and Albert Neset.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Ida's family and friends.Active Pallbearers will be Ross Grundyson, Kye Grundyson, Matt Erickson, Bob Higdem, Nick Grundyson, and Matt Grundyson.
