Ila Mahlen, age 91 of Erskine, MN passed away on Tuesday, October 14th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 20th at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Monday, and interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Erskine. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ila Emerald Bradley was born March 2, 1923 in Erskine, Minnesota to Gust and Emma (Gulbranson) Bradley. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church of Erskine. Ila graduated from Erskine High School in 1942. She worked at the Anoka County Courthouse in Anoka, Minnesota as well as a local café in Anoka.Ila was united in marriage to Levi Mahlen on October 26, 1946. They made their home in Erskine where Ila worked for Garden Valley Telephone Company from 1954-1984.Ila was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Women's Bible Study, Mary Circle, Women's Choir and Ladies Aide. She loved music, reading, crocheting, gardening, crafts, embroidering, watching the Minnesota Twins and belonged to the Jolly 14 Homemakers Club and Birthday Club.On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 Ila passed away peacefully at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center of Erskine at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 12 days.Ila is survived by her sons, Michael (Sallie) of Wadena, MN and Paul (Kim) of Erskine; grandchildren, Jason (Kristin) Mahlen of Chisago City, MN, Gena (Justin) Sperling of Elk River, MN, Nathan (Rochelle) Mahlen of Fosston, MN, Jeremy (Leah) Mahlen of Erskine and Matthew (Ashlie) Mahlen of Big Lake, MN; great grandchildren, Gavin, Ava, Noah, Brynlea, Lexi, Anberlin and Tyus; brother, Stanley (Marilyn) Bradley of Rhinelander, WI; sister-in-law, Aimee Ness of Erskine; and brother-in-law, Don (Bev) Hamre of Erskine. Several nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Levi; sisters, Yolanda Strand and Gladys Hanson; and brother, Floyd Bradley.Blessed be her memory
