He grew up in rural Winger and attended Win-E-Mac School, graduating in 2007.Jake then attended Bemidji State University. While attending BSU, he was very involved in Residential Life and the Lutheran Campus Ministry, working for both of them. Jake graduated from BSU in 2012 and always said his degree should have been in "interim work" as he had several jobs at BSU and the Lutheran Campus Ministry when help was needed quickly. He pointed out that he had lived in every building on the BSU campus at one time or another. Everyone that knew Jake knew of his passion for music and movies. He was always attending concerts and standing in line for opening movies. His job at Your QFM radio station was a perfect fit for Jake (JD). He loved his job there and all of his QFM family, which included his co-workers and listeners. It allowed him to share his love of the Lord and indulge his passion for music.Jake always said he got his first job when he was four years old - the job of "Big Brother" to his sister, Megan. He loved, respected and protected her fiercely.Jacob Daniel Hertwig passed away at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND on Saturday, September 14, 2019 with his family by his side.
