Jim was born on February 21, 1964, and was a lifelong learner and a man of deep and abiding faith. He graduated from La Crescent High School and continued his education at Brown Institute, where he earned a certificate in Broadcast Journalism and Radio & Television Broadcasting. Answering a higher calling, Jim later attended River Bible Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and was ordained shortly thereafter.
Throughout his life’s journey, Jim embraced many professional paths while looking for adventure along the way. Adventures included a logging stint in Wilson, Wyoming with his brother Paul, working at a lodge in Kachemak Bay, Alaska and a salmon packing plant also in Alaska.
He was co-owner of the Brainerd Bowling Center and Scoreboard Sports Lounge in Baxter, Minnesota, and co-managed several motels in Minnesota and Florida often hosting barbeque outreaches for anyone in need of a hand up, fellowship and encouragement. He also co-managed a storage facility in Texas. Most recently, he was employed by Erskine Attachments in Fosston, Minnesota.
As an ordained minister, Jim was a praying man with a sincere heart for those in need and for those seeking the message of the Gospel. He was never hesitant to share the love and message of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and he faithfully prayed for and with anyone who crossed his path.
Jim had a deep love for dogs, treating his four-legged companions as family. He also enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, boating, and snowmobiling, and he carried his passion for sharing his faith wherever he went.
Jim is survived by his mother, Barbara Rodvik; his brother, Paul Rodvik; his sister, Karen (Rusty) Grow; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Luther Rodvik; his birth mother of four years, Florence Kraemer Rodvik; his cousins Dayton Rodvik, Suzanne Wige, and Wesley Rodvik; and his great-niece, Lorelai Grow.
