James Stordahl

December 9, 1955 — March 7, 2017

James Stordahl, age 61, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 7th, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11th, at the Win-E-Mac High School gymnasium in Erskine, MN with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10th, for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. All visitation will be held at the Win-E-Mac High School gymnasium. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Jim was born on December 9th, 1955 in Fosston, MN to Orville and Marion Stordahl of McIntosh, MN, graduated from McIntosh High School in 1974 and remained an active member of the McIntosh community the rest of his life. In 1977 Jim married his soulmate (and the spice in his life), Roxanne Dufault and together, they had two amazing sons, Bryan and Bryce.Although Jim held many positions throughout his life, for the last 21 years, he was employed by the University of Minnesota as a county extension agent, serving many counties. Jim was passionate about his work and serving others and had an amazing ability to connect with people, listen and resolve any issues they may have been having. He enjoyed the challenges of his work along with everyone he got to meet throughout his incredible career.Jim retired on June 30th 2016 and focused his energy on fighting to live. Jim never allowed cancer to change his life. He continued to live by faith and with purpose- spending every moment he could enjoying his family and friends and the organic dairy farm he so loved.Jim lived for his family and especially cherished his time with his Grandchildren, Jens and Adler. They were his heart, his joy and his peace. He taught them to love the outdoors, animals and farming. Jens loved nothing more than to put on his boots and go out with his Grandpa to do chores, feed hay and greet each cow or take a ride in the tractor. He was so proud that they would be his legacy!Jim passed away peacefully on March 7th at 10:12PM at his beloved farm, surrounded by his family. Over the past year Jim had been battling and embracing his journey with cancer. Throughout his journey, Jim stayed true to who he was and what he stood for- impacting countless lives along the way with his kindness, support and encouragement.Jim is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Roxanne, his faithful son, Bryce, Andrea, who was more than a daughter than a daughter in law and his two precious grandchildren, Jens and Adler (McIntosh, MN). Sister Ann Stordahl and her husband, Kelly Austin (Dallas, TX), brother Dave Stordahl and his wife Wanda (Keifet) Stordahl (McIntosh, MN). Mother in law, Madeline Dufault and Father in law Lawrence Dufault (Gentilly, MN), brother in law, Randy Dufault and his wife Kathy (East Grand Forks, MN), brother in law Tony Dufault and wife Deb (Grand Forks, ND), brother in law, Robin Dufault and girlfriend, Diane (East Grand Forks), sister in law, Charlene Schlueter and husband Bob (Hutchinson, MN), sister in law Tammy Scheving and husband Roger, sister in law Lonie Woltjer and husband, Andy (Moorhead, MN) and brother in law, Marlin Dufault (Gentilly, MN) and many, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and dear friends.Welcoming Jim to his heavenly home was his son Bryan and infant, Erin. His parents, Orville and Marion Stordahl and many beloved family members, friends and animals. In honor of Jim's life, the family will be setting up the Jim Stordahl scholarship fund for Win-E-Mac students.
