Janet Thompson, age 58, of McIntosh, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 15th, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21st, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fertile with Father Joe Richards presiding. Interment will be in Asphult Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday, August 20th, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. All visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fertile. Janet Lee Bergh Thompson was born on June 28, 1960 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to parents Franklin and Annie Layhon Bergh. Her family moved to Hallock, Minnesota in 1964 and then to Clearbrook, Minnesota in 1966. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1978. Following high school, Janet attended Bemidji State University while working as a waitress and at area nursing homes. She also had been the activity director at Good Samaritan in Clearbrook.Janet was united in marriage to Robert Thompson on February 22, 1992 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bagley, Minnesota. After their marriage, they moved to the farm in Hill River Township where they lived and raised their family. In addition to caring for her family, Janet worked at Cenex as deli manager and at the Office in McIntosh. Janet was also a creative person and loved music. She enjoyed photography, gardening and had the gift of playing the piano by ear. She also enjoyed nature and being outside. Many wonderful family memories were created at Jepson Lake by their farm. Janet loved being around people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She cared for her family with her wonderful cooking (nobody would ever go away hungry), decorating for every holiday, and with the love that she shared. She will be dearly missed. Janet passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her home at the age of 58 years.Survivors include her husband, Robert, of McIntosh; three daughters, Jami (Jesse) Doyea of Beltrami, MN, Kayla Bergh (Seth Solberg) of Grand Forks, ND, Angila Thompson of McIntosh; grandchildren, Myah, Hunter and Landon Doyea, and Konnor Solberg; her parents, Franklin and Annie Bergh of Clearbrook, MN; four siblings, Patricia (James) Beardsley of Clearbrook, MN, Connie Solberg of Gonvick, MN, Wayne Bergh of Clearbrook, MN, Charles (Barb) Bergh of Milaca, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Brian Gunning; nephew, Dustin Bergh; father and mother-in-law, Orlin and Arlys Thompson; and best friends, Annie Gunderson and Sherry Venem.
