They lived in the Hampshire area for 12 years before moving to a farm north of Gully, Minnesota, in 1972. They had 3 daughters, Jodi, Tia, and Tracy (Murph). Jan enjoyed being a seamstress and creating her own designs. She made many bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses as well as many 3 or 4 piece suits for Bev Anderson. Many (or most) years us girls received boxes of fabric and patterns for Christmas from “Santa” for mom to use. Jan spent hours later in life creating cross stitch pictures for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren documenting their births.
Jan Spent many years as a farm advocate for the state of Minnesota. She was very passionate about helping the farmers keep what they worked so hard for. Jan had a passion for helping people which has carried on through her 2 surviving daughters Tia and Murph. In 2004, Jan and Don purchased the Gully Cafe in Gully, MN. The Cafe was her pride and joy in serving the local communities in northern Minnesota. Her favorite time at the Cafe was always Deer hunting season in November. She enjoyed seeing all the hunters and feeding them. For several of the last years, Tia and Murph joined her to help and serve all the hunters. She retired from the Cafe at the age of 81 and sold the business in 2024.
She leaves behind her daughters, Tia Sundquist and her husband Kevin of Marengo, IL, and Tracy “Murph” MacNab and her husband Roger of Lillian, AL.
