Janice (Hove) Johnson, age 70, of Brookings, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be in the spring next to family in Wisconsin. Janice Lorraine Hove was born May 16, 1949, to Otto and Myrtle (Hjelmhaug) Hove in Fosston, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm near Gully, Minnesota and attended Sunnyside school, a one room schoolhouse, through the sixth grade. Janice loved animals and was active in 4-H. After high school, she attended St. Luke's Nursing School in Duluth, Minnesota. Janice graduated as an LPN.Janice raised three children and was an amazing mom. She worked for many years in home health care. She also worked for two nursing homes. Janice retired several years ago due to health reasons. Janice continued her love for 4-H where she enjoyed teaching home environment, beef, and woodworking. She won an annual East Polk County radio speaking contest. Along with 4-H, Janice also enjoyed painting, spending time with her beloved family and grandchildren, her dogs, watching the birds, shopping, and watching medical and police shows.Survivors include her three children, Tonya (Todd) Koehler, Shawn (Christine) Johnson, and Jennifer (Steve) Wernisch; grandchildren, Taylor Koehler, Tristin (Brandon) Roberts, Ariel Czlapinski, Austin Czlapinski, Abigail Czlapinski, Jayden Wernisch, and Erica Johnson; brother Kenneth (Roxie) Hove; ex-husband/friend, Rodney (Nancy) Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews, and many friends and family who were touched by god's most beautiful soul. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Sophie. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; and stillborn sister, Karen.
