Obituary

Jerome “Jerry” Doll, age 84, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Monday, June 1st, at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger with Theresa Sandness, SAM officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Winger. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (13th) at the church. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.

Jerome Norbert Doll was born on August 14, 1941, in Rush Lake Township, rural Perham, Minnesota to parents Vincent and Mary (Klimek) Doll. In the sixth grade, he moved with his family to Winger, Minnesota where he attended school.

Jerome was united in marriage to Bonnie Ryan on September 22, 1962, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. To this union, two daughters were born, Rachel and Heidi. They lived in Fertile where they owned and operated a hotel. During this time, Jerry was also a full-time truck driver and auxiliary cop.

They purchased a farm northeast of Winger and Jerry began working as a millwright. They moved into Fosston where they lived for many years before moving the Thief River Falls to be closer to their daughters. Bonnie passed away in April of 2014. Most recently, Jerry has lived in McIntosh.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Mahnomen Rod and Gun Club. He liked hunting, fishing, golfing, racing (ice and dirt), woodworking (made many beautiful ice fishing decoys), driving around the countryside, taking care of his yard and garden, and helping area farmers. Most of all, Jerry loved his family. They were his world. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Bak of Thief River Falls, MN, and Heidi (Scott) Swenson of Lancaster, MN; five grandchildren, Dustin (Andrea), Abby, Garet (Taylor), Gabby (Billy), and Izzy; five great grandchildren; four siblings, Diane, Max, Marylou, and Corrine. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his parents; two sisters, Virginia and Veronica; one brother, Kenneth; and his father and mother-in-law, Norris and Flayvia Ryan.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Riverview Hospital for the amazing care Jerome received while he was there.
