Joan Haugen

Joan Haugen, age 78, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday (January 10th) at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (January 18th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Poplar River Cemetery, Fosston at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com. Memorials may be preferred to the Hope Lutheran Church Radio Fund.Joan Odell Lund was born on December 22, 1935 in Gully, Minnesota the daughter of Olaf and Bertha Evenson Lund. Joan married Marvis Tangen on June 6, 1954. They resided in Fosston, Minnesota and raised three boys, Dale, Terry and Todd. Marvis passed away on February 4, 1971.Joan raised her three boys and worked at the Hartz grocery store in Fosston. She married Stanley Haugen on July 1, 1977. Stanley passed away on May 17, 1996.Joan spent many enjoyable hours volunteering at Hope Lutheran Church by quilting blankets for those in need and helping in the kitchen. Joan enjoyed getting together with her many friends, family and grandchildren, and enjoyed long walks in her hometown. Survivors include two sons, Terry of Fosston, MN, and Todd and his wife Maureen of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren, Brian, Meggan, Kelly, Nicholas, Candace, Janessa, Morgen and Kira; three sisters, Goldie Torberg, Opal and her husband Boyd, and Donna and her husband Don. Many nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Marvis and Stanley; son, Dale; and brother, Sonny Lund.Honorary Pallbearers: Jeff Knudson, Scott Tverberg, Krissy Bringman, Kyle Vig, Nick Tangen, Willy Senum, Shawn Qualley, Jamie Lund, and Phyllis Smeby.
