Joyce Ringstad

Joyce Ringstad, age 78, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Saturday (February 8th) at First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (February 13th) at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Joyce Mardell Onsager was born on December 31, 1935 in Lengby, Minnesota to parents Bennie and Alice (Dunning) Onsager. She grew up near Lengby and Fosston and attended the Moen country school. Joyce was married to Floyd Gulseth on February 28, 1959. After their marriage, they traveled following Floyd's work around the country. They eventually settled in rural Fosston about a 1/2 mile from where Joyce grew up. Floyd passed away on September 7, 1995. She married Gordon Ringstad on September 25, 2000. After their marriage, Gordy and Joyce lived in Lengby. Joyce worked for Keith's Ben Franklin and K's Variety in Fosston for nearly 30 years until her retirement. She also volunteered with the Lengby Improvement Club, as a member of the Lengby City Council, and a Girl Scout Leader.An important part of her life revolved around her church and her faith. Joyce was a faithful member of Fridhem Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school, was Sunday school superintendent, was on the church council for many years and was always active in the church ladies aid.She loved gardening, hiking, wildlife and being outdoors. Even through her health issues in recent years, Joyce was always patient and treated each day like it was a gift. Most of all, Joyce cherished the time and memories she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Survivors include her husband, Gordon of Lengby; one daughter, Kim (Steve) Kildal of Chisago City, MN; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Haugen of Lindstrom, MN; and Eric (Jessica) Kildal of Coon Rapids, MN; three great grandchildren, Madison, Christian, and Chloe Haugen; four sisters, Delores Schulz of Euclid, MN, Dorothy Johnson of South Milwaukee, WI, Priscilla (Bill) Taylor of Frankenmuth, MI, and Sharon (Richard) Kappedal of Fosston; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Albert) Chruszch of Angus, MN; brothers-in-law, Richard Ringstad of Glasgow, MT, Calvin Ringstad of Bejou, MN, and Wayne (Brenda) Ringstad of Duluth, MN; and sister-in-law, Mary (Jarvis) Watnemo of Hutchinson, MN.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd; her parents; brother, Delbert; three brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.Honorary Pallbearers: The congregation of Fridhem Lutheran ChurchActive Pallbearers: Lyle Gutterud, Wayne Ringstad, Calvin Ringstad, Rick Ringstad, Herb Hegg, and Dave Bullock.
