Joyce Suckow

Joyce Suckow, age 89, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Sunday December 8th at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston, MN. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 13th at 11:00 AM at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held for one hour before the memorial service at the church on Friday. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date at Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, Lengby, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Joyce Stokke was born on May 29, 1924 on a farmstead east of Lengby, Minnesota to parents Julius and Emma (Halvorson) Stokke, then moved to her childhood home at the Lengby Junction (which is now the rest area). She had one dear sister, Viola.Joyce attended Lengby school and graduated from Fosston in 1942. After graduation she moved to St. Paul and worked for the airlines.She married Jack Robb and they lived in Fargo and Lengby. To this union were born eight children, Linda, Connie, Jeff, Jacki, Lowell, Loren, Bob and Peggy. In 1965, she married Bill Suckow and his children Fran and Roy joined the family. Bill brought much happiness to the family.In 1972, Joyce received her LPN diploma. She worked at the Bagley Hospital and Greensview Nursing Home in Bagley and did private duty nursing.Joyce was a lifelong member of Fridhem Church in Lengby. She loved swimming in Spring Lake, picnics, chocolate, traveling with Bill, camping with the kids, gardening, being in Duluth when Bill was in port, music, cats, dogs and strays, and driving on back roads.She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; totally selfless, full of grace and class.On Sunday, December 8, 2013 Joyce passed away at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston, Minnesota at the age of 89 years.Survivors include her children and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Krys and Will; Kim and Ricky; Justin and Marshall; Melissa and Lisa; Mandy, Tylor, Grace and Mary; Aaron and Heather; and Victoria; many great grandchildren; and nieces, Sondra, Wilma and Elaine.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; sons, Lowell and Loren; grandson, Christopher; and sister, Viola.Beautiful lady/Beautiful life
