Judi Hanson, age 72, formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7th, at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston, with the Rev. Andrew Virkus officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Judith Rae Hanson was born January 13, 1949. She was raised along with her 5 sisters by their parents, Arvid and Gladyce Josephson, on their family farm in Columbia Township, rural Fosston, MN. It was there that Judi learned a strong work ethic by being her dad’s top farm hand in a family of girls and her life-long love of nature and the outdoors.
After graduation from high school, she married Ron Hanson. Together they raised their two children, Nikki and Nathan. Judi worked for many years as the office manager for an accounting firm in Moorhead. When they moved to Stillwater, MN, she managed their home and was the top cheerleader for Nikki’s and Nate’s activities.
Judi loved to cook, bake, and entertain! Appetizers were her specialty and she was always calling her sisters with a new recipe for them to try. She also loved people and often sat down with perfect strangers to listen to their stories. She was a true and loyal friend to many. Judi loved all kinds of music (especially when played on guitar) and dancing! She was always the first one on the dance floor encouraging everyone to join her!
Her twin granddaughters, Ava Rae and Maya Lucille, were the light of her life and those two little girls will dearly miss their Grandma JuJu. In addition to her children and granddaughters, Judi is survived by sisters, Jan (Wendel) Hanson of Fosston, Linda (Greg) Irmen of Moorhead, Bonnie (Tim) Lundorff of Bemidji, Sheri (Jim) Jones of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Karen Josephson of Algonquin, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
God bless Judi’s memory.
