Karen Nienaber, age 62, from Erskine, MN passed away on Saturday, November 19th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 3:00 to 6:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of Condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Karen Sue Post was born on April 28, 1954 in San Diego, CA. She grew up in St. Cloud, MN where she graduated from Technical High School in 1972. Karen was united in marriage to Randy Nienaber on November 12, 1988, with each bringing to the union 2 beautiful children, Anna and Theodore, and Christina and Brandon, and adding a 5th 2 years later, Arthur. They moved to Erskine, MN in 1990 where they made their home. Karen worked as a cook for the Win-E-Mac school for 19 years, and most recently at the Cenex in McIntosh, MN. Karen was a dedicated mother raising her children, and enjoying all the kids extra-curricular activities for school. In the summer she loved spending time outdoors feeding the birds, gardening and spending time at her lake home, then canning the bounties of her gardens in the fall. She loved watching NASCAR and cooking big meals for family and friends. Karen was especially fond of all of her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. On Saturday November 19, 2016 Karen passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62 years. She is survived by Randy, her loving husband of 28 years; five children, Anna (Kevin) Mandt of McIntosh, Christina (Steve) Strohmayer of Elmdale, MN, Theodore Dibblee of Long Prairie, MN, Brandon (Laura) Nienaber of Mentor, MN, and Arthur Nienaber of McIntosh; her grandchildren, Colten, Shelby, Rhiana, Jonathan, Chole, Raven, Damian, Cory, Paxton, Parker, and Penny; and brothers and sister, William (Patricia) Post III of Princeton, MN, Carol (Barry) Seguin of South Haven, MN, Michael (Deborah) Post of St. Cloud, and Mark Post of Luxemburg, MN. She is also survived by her mother Janice Post of St. Cloud; father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul (Yvonne) Nienaber of Randall, MN; and brothers-in-law, Jeff Nienaber of San Francisco, CA and Joe Nienaber of Brooklyn Center, MN. She was preceded in death by her father, William Post; and sister-in-law Cheryl Post. Blessed be her memory
