Kenneth Jore, age 91, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Friday, December 25th, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31st, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. David Jore officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, December 30th, at the McIntosh Community Center. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ken was born in Norwood, MN, on March 24, 1924, to Knute Jore, Jr. and Caroline (Rolf) Jore. The family lived on a farm in Lessor township where Ken attended Hillside country school. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh, where Ken was confirmed. He graduated from McIntosh High School in 1941.He married Esther Espeseth of Clearbrook, MN, on April 6, 1945. Four children were born to this union: Stanley, Daniel, David, and Judith. Ken farmed the family farm before moving to McIntosh, where he started working at First National Bank. On October 18, 1949, an automobile accident took the lives of Caroline, Esther and Stanley. Ken married Verniz Anderson of Mentor, MN, on May 4, 1951. The births of two more sons, Philip and Paul, completed the family.Kenneth worked at the First National Bank of McIntosh for 40 years with the later years as Vice President. During these years he was involved with the Lions Club and Booster Club. Ken's priorities were his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his family. He was active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh, serving on various boards and committees, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and serving as Youth Advisor. He enjoyed singing in men's quartets throughout his years. He was a member of the Gideon's, regularly attended men's prayer breakfast and participated in area choirs.Ken enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He taught them about gardening, hunting, golfing and swimming. Memorable family vacations included summer camping trips and weeks at Bible camp. He loved the city of McIntosh and his time at the 9 & 3 coffee club. In his retirement years he loved to golf with friends and often walked the streets in the morning for exercise and prayer time.Ken and Verniz lived in their home until May 2014, when they transitioned to Poplar Meadows assisted living. More recently they moved to McIntosh Senior Living, where he died in his sleep early on Christmas morning. He is survived by Verniz, his wife of 64 years, and their five children: Daniel (Cheryl) Jore of McIntosh, MN, David (Judith) Jore of Roseville, MN, Judith (Rodney) Sprung of Ortonville, MN, Philip (C'Dale) Jore of Williston, ND, and Paul (Sandra) Jore of McIntosh, MN, as well as 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents Knute and Caroline Jore, his stepmother Esther Jore, his sister Ardelle Ostenaa, brother in-law Peter Ostenaa, nephew Jerry Ostenaa, his first wife Esther Jore, and son Stanley Jore, and great granddaughter Ariana Jore.Ken would tell you that the most important thing in life is knowing and loving JESUS.
