Kenneth â�œKennyâ��½ Kildal, age 80, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday (November 14th) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (November 19th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday (November 18th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Kenneth LeRoy Kildal was born on July 6, 1927 at rural Shevlin, Minnesota to parents Hans and Annie (Bye) Kildal. He was baptized at Landstad Lutheran Church in Shevlin, attended rural school near Lengby and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby. When he was a young man, Kenny moved to Oregon and lived with his brother and family while driving a logging truck. He entered the United States Army on April 24, 1946 and served in Japan during the restoration period following World War II driving a medical supply vehicle. He received his honorable discharge on April 24, 1947.Following the service, Kenny went to school at the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for auto mechanics. He then returned to Fosston and drove truck for Land Oâ�™ Lakes. He was united in marriage to Margaret Norstuen on July 14, 1951. After their marriage, Kenny worked at the Ford Garage in Fosston as a mechanic. He purchased a farm outside of Fosston in 1954 where he operated a mechanic shop and in 1965 an International Harvester Dealership. Later, he was employed with the Fosston School District as Transportation Supervisor for over 30 years until his retirement in 1991. His motto as Transportation Supervisor was â�œkeep em running and warmâ��½.Kenny was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where he had been active as a Deacon, head usher and for a couple of years as custodian along with Margaret. He was also a member of the East Polk Heritage Center in Fosston and the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby. He never lost his love for old cars. He loved to travel with his camper and see different parts of the country. He also enjoyed his morning coffee at the Maple Ridge Café. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.Kenny passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 80 years, four months and eight days.Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Fosston; four children, Carol (George) Padron of Gilbert, AZ, Joan (Rick) Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, Steve (Kim) Kildal of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Dan (Lisa) Kildal of Erskine, MN; eight grandchildren, Nathan and David Padron, Eric Kildal, Jenny (Jason) Haugen, Daniel, Christopher and Tommy Kildal, and Lindsey Peters; two great grandchildren, Madison and Christian Haugen.Also surviving is one brother, Helmer Kildal of Pleasant Hill, OR; one sister, Alice Fladhammer of Modesto, CA; sisters-in-law, Lucille Strickland of Ceres, CA and Grace Kildal of Fosston; and brother-in-law, Sidney Norstuen of Fosston. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Olaf and Elden â�œPopcornâ��½; an infant brother; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fladhammer; and sister-in-law, Naomi Kildal.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Kennyâ�™s family and friendsActive Pallbearers will be his grandsonsâ�"Daniel Kildal, Christopher Kildal, Tommy Kildal, Nathan Padron, David Padron and Eric Kildal.
