LeRoy Stenmoen, age 93, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday, February 4th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10th, at Vernes Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh, with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bailey-Throne American Legion Post #596 of Erskine and the National Guard Honors Team. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.LeRoy Burton Stenmoen was born on June 13, 1921 in McIntosh, Minnesota to Orville and Ida Govig Olson. His mother died when he was 18 months old and was adopted by Oscar and Calma Stenmoen. He grew up in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1939.LeRoy entered the United States Navy on February 26, 1945, serving as an Aviation Metalsmith during World War II. He received his honorable discharge on April 22, 1946 and returned home to McIntosh.LeRoy was united in marriage to Adele Gunderson on January 20, 1947. After their marriage, they lived and raised their family on the farm near McIntosh. In addition to farming, LeRoy worked for MNDOT out of Crookston and Erskine for 24 years until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed working with wood; making gifts for family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature watching, and gardening. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.LeRoy passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at his home in McIntosh at the age of 93 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Adele, of McIntosh; three daughters, Mary Ann (Bill) Senn of McIntosh, Linda (Seve) Egge of North St. Paul, MN, and Julie Shimpa of Erskine; nine grandchildren, David Senn (Kristy), Daniel Senn, Kathrine (Joel) Howard, Richard Cole, Samantha (Jesse) Pulczinski, Allison Cole (Chris Mrosla), Joseph (Jessica) Shimpa, Tiffany (Jon) Omundson, and Andy (Angie) Shimpa; 15 great grandchildren, Seth Senn, Morgan Senn, Bella Senn, Ava Howard, Bergen Howard, Chloe Howard, William Howard, Iris Howard, Ethan Shimpa, Annika Shimpa, William Shimpa, Scotty Omundson, Faith Omundson, Hope Omundson, and Krista Shimpa; and one great great granddaughter, Natilely Bring. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ida Olson and Oscar and Calma Stenmoen; siblings, Marvin, Ordelle, Edith , Alma, Olive, and James.Honorary Pallbearers: All of LeRoy's GrandchildrenActive Pallbearers: David Senn, Daniel Senn, Richard Cole, Joseph Shimpa, Andy Shimpa, and Seth Senn.
