Louie Patterson, age 95, from Erskine, MN passed away on Thursday, January 28th at Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Erskine with Rev. Michelle Miller officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour before the memorial service at the church on Wednesday morning. Interment of cremains will be at the Synod Cemetery near Erskine at a later date. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Louie Lawrence Patterson was born on December 4, 1920 to parents Ira and Jenny (Reintsma) Patterson in Crookston, Minnesota. Louie served in the United States Army during WWII in the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign. He entered the service on August 19, 1942 and received his Honorable Discharge on December 5, 1945.Louie was united in marriage to Marie Bertha Mayer on November 17, 1948 in McIntosh, Minnesota. They made their home north of Erskine, Minnesota where they farmed for many years. Louie retired from farming in 1984 and they moved into Erskine. He was also a milk hauler for 35 years. Marie passed away on October 4, 2003.Louie enjoyed reading and watching westerns, being with his family and gardening.On Thursday, January 28, 2016 Louie passed away at Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston, Minnesota at the age of 95 years.He is survived by daughter, Linda (Kenny) Nelson and son, Gary (Denise) Patterson all of Erskine; grandchildren, Ulysses (Steph) Patterson, Raychel (James) Graham, Alisha (Bob) Anderson, Tim (Carissa) Sigdahl, Kyle Edgar, and Chad (Katy) Edgar; great grandchildren, Anthony, Autumn, Ty, Chesney, Jaxson, Bayleigh, Ivory, Talon, Link, and Meadow; sister-in-law, Elsie Patterson of Thief River Falls, MN; and nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Jenny; his wife, Marie; brothers, John, Henry (Hank), and Elmer; sisters, Hatti Nordby, and Mary Patterson; and great grandson, Gary Louis.
