Marian Jenkins, age 92, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 28th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Peter Lurvey and Rev. Jane Ekholm officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, May 3rd, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Marian Anola Miller was born on December 2, 1931, in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Arthur and Alvina (Sorby) Miller. Marian attended first grade in Gully, Minnesota and then Ridgelawn County School until 1944 when the family moved to McIntosh, Minnesota. They subsequently moved to Fosston in 1947. Marian graduated from Fosston High School in 1949.

Marian married Ellwood Jenkins in 1949, and moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota. There she worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, and Ellwood a salesman for a tire company. They then moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1950, where they both worked for Nash Motor Company, Marian in the bookkeeping department and Ellwood in the new car factory. They returned to Minnesota in 1951, and resided in St. Paul, where their son, Michael, was born in1952 and daughter, Valerie, was born in 1956. Marian went to school and worked for H&R Block in St. Paul from 1968 to 1972. Marian and Ellwood subsequently moved back to Fosston in 1973 and built a new house on the Columbia Road. Marian worked for H&R Block for 10 years in Fosston.

Marian loved to knit and crochet, making scores of caps, scarfs, mittens and afghans. She especially enjoyed making dozens of caps for newborns to go home warm in, which were donated to hospitals. She loved playing cards, especially Whist and Smear. She made all her Christmas greeting cards. She loved traveling, camping and her Siamese Cats. Marian and Ellwood spent 25 winters in Yuma, Arizona. In the summers they traveled and camped in their RV.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Laura) Jenkins of Libby, MT and Valerie (Robert) Cain of Carson City, NV; sisters, Gloria (Jim) Bjornerud of Appleton, WI, and Jackie (Mark) Randall of Fosston; brother, Edward (Linda) Miller of Fosston, MN; grandson, Riley Borg; and great granddaughter, Olivia Borg.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Ellwood, in 2013; her brother “Artie” in 2014; and sister, Jodel, in 2021.

Marian will be greatly missed by all where knew her and loved her.
