Pat Swenson, age 82, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, December 18th, at Essentia Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby with the Rev. Gene Lilienthal officiating. Interment will be in Cross Lake Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (30th) at the church. Patricia Ann Sellers was born on March 17, 1941, in Amory, Mississippi to parents Lewis and Helen (Hobson) Sellers. She grew up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1960.
In September of 1960, Pat entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. She received her honorable discharge in February of 1962.
She was united in marriage to Edwin Swenson on March 15, 1962, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. They settled in Grand Forks, North Dakota while Ed finished his career in the Air Force and Pat worked for Sears. In 1984, they retired to Ed’s childhood home in Columbia Township, east of Fosston. They sold their home in October of 2009 and moved into Fosston. Ed passed away on November 6, 2014.
Pat lived in the Summerfield Place Apartments and then Prairie Pines Assisted Living and, since February of 2021, Essentia First Care Living Center.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby, Spring Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #2759 of Lengby and had been the Treasurer and Clerk of Columbia Township Board.
She liked to shop, read, and loved to spend time with her “adopted grandchildren”. Pat always had the coffee on and a snack at the ready for visitors. She also loved the Christmas season and baking for the Holidays.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Swenson of Eugene, OR; and her extended family, Kenny and Betty Lomen and their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edwin.
