Patricia "Pat"
Johnson
Apr 25, 1948 — Jun 20, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Karen Johnson, who died on June 20th, 2026, at the age of 78 in her home in Fosston, Minnesota.
Pat was born on April 25, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Delores and Lawrence Pearson. As the daughter of a military family, she spent much of her childhood moving throughout the country before eventually making her home in the lakes area of Minnesota, where she spent most of her adult life.
Pat graduated from high school in 1966 and pursued a lifelong commitment to learning. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Concordia College in St. Paul in 1968, a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Moorhead State University in 1980, and a Master's Degree in Counseling from North Dakota State University in 1998.
On January 23, 1971, Pat married Duane S. Johnson. Together they welcomed two children, Kirstin Stephanie and Wade Carl. Although Pat and Duane later divorced in 1989, family remained the center of her life.
Pat's greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished time spent with her family and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Her beloved grandchildren include Alexus, Jacob, Rebecca, Rain, Issybelle, Wade (CJ), Loki, Layla, and Madeline. She treasured every opportunity to celebrate milestones, share stories, and create lasting memories with those she loved.
Known for her caring nature, independence, and dedication to education, Pat lived life on her own terms. She approached life with determination, independence, and a mischievous sense of humor that reminded everyone not to take life too seriously, and she was never afraid to enjoy chocolate for breakfast. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, warmth, and the love she shared so generously with family and friends.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Kirstin Perales, and son-in-law, Jorge; her son, Wade Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Amber; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Pat may no longer be with us, but her laughter, wit, and unbreakable spirit will live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish. We can only imagine that she has already made herself at home in heaven, offering her opinions freely, keeping the angels on their toes, and perhaps still asking for that million dollars. Though we will miss her dearly, we find comfort in knowing that wherever Pat is, she's making people laugh, speaking her mind, and leaving a lasting impression just as she always did.
In accordance with Pat's wishes, memorial services will be held privately.
